Together, we’ll turn inward, tap into your innate creativity, and begin to reconnect with the parts of you that have gone unheard or overlooked so you can begin to build clarity, self-trust, and a sense of safety that feels unshakable.

Sometimes, when words feel out of reach, the creative process offers another way in. Art-making can help surface what lives beneath language: grief, anger, numbness, confusion, or moments of unexpected clarity.Whether we use paint, collage, found objects, or simple marks on paper, the focus is not on creating art that looks a certain way. This work is not about creating something polished. It is about staying with the process and using creativity as a way to explore, express, and connect more deeply with yourself.Sessions combine image-making with reflective conversation, allowing space for both visual and verbal exploration. You do not need any art experience, only a willingness to be curious about what shows up.If you are working through patterns of over-functioning, self-abandonment, or early emotional roles, art therapy can help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been silenced, sidelined, or overlooked. This process can support emotional processing, insight into relational dynamics, and a more grounded sense of self. Together, we will move at a pace that honours your story and respects your nervous system. You might leave feeling more anchored, more spacious, or simply more like yourself.Individual sessions are currently offered virtually. No special materials are required, and I will guide you in setting up a creative space at home that feels supportive and accessible.

About Me

Art Therapist &
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

I’m Caitlyn Terry, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Art Therapist based in Toronto. I work with individuals who want to reconnect with themselves and their emotional lives in a grounded, creative, and compassionate way.I’ve supported people of all ages, including children and youth, across diverse settings. My current focus is adults and young adults navigating anxiety, burnout, identity shifts, relational harm, emotionally immature caregiving, and betrayal in close relationships.I’m especially attuned to entrepreneurs, creatives, and caregivers who have spent years tending to others or striving to meet high expectations, often while neglecting their own needs. My work blends clinical training with lived experience and centres on unlearning patterns of self-abandonment, people-pleasing, and emotional suppression. My approach is relational and arts-based, grounded in the belief that you are the expert in your own story. I offer a therapeutic space that supports clarity, emotional safety, and the slow rebuilding of self-trust.Before becoming a therapist, I worked as an entrepreneur in the food industry—an experience that deepened my understanding of burnout, emotional labour, and what it means to hold it all together on the outside while struggling within.I hold a DTATI from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute and a BFA with Distinction from OCAD University. I’m registered with the CRPO and am a member of the Canadian Art Therapy Association.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of art therapy?
Art therapy can help you access thoughts and feelings that are difficult to express with words. It supports emotional processing, self-awareness, nervous system regulation, and creative reconnection. For many people, it becomes a way to return to themselves with more clarity, softness, or agency. You don’t have to explain everything. You can just begin.
What kinds of concerns or patterns can art therapy support?
This work can be especially helpful for those navigating over-functioning, self-abandonment, people-pleasing, grief, identity shifts, or the long-term effects of emotionally immature caregiving. If you're used to caring for others or performing at a high level, art therapy can offer space to reconnect with yourself.
What happens in a session?
Sessions combine gentle creative exploration with reflective conversation. Typically, we will begin with a check-in, move into image-making, and leave time to notice what has surfaced visually, verbally, or somatically. There’s no one right way to participate.
Do I need to be good at art to benefit?
Not at all. This work isn’t about technical skill or creating something polished. It’s about giving space to what shows up and letting the creative process guide reflection and healing.
How is this different from an art class or creative workshop?
Art therapy focuses on process rather than product. It’s not about instructing in technique or guiding particular outcomes, but about creating space to notice, feel, and explore in a way that’s grounded in safety, agency, and personal meaning-making.
What materials do I need?
To begin, you’ll just need a few simple supplies like paper, pens, or found materials. You are always welcome to introduce materials and ways of working that interest you. Before we start, I’ll help you create a space at home that feels supportive and accessible, and I’ll provide a list of suggested supplies.
How do group sessions work?
Groups typically follow a simple structure: a short check-in, a guided creative activity, and time for reflection. Sharing is always optional. To stay up to date with current group offerings, you are invited to join my mailing list.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Services may be covered under extended health benefits for Registered Psychotherapists. Please confirm with your provider prior to booking if coverage could be an issue. Please confirm the details of your coverage with your provider before booking to ensure you understand any limits or requirements.
Do I have to commit to a certain number of sessions?
You are welcome to attend as few or as many sessions as feels right for you. Many clients find benefit from meeting weekly for a few months, but there is no requirement to predetermine a set number of sessions. We’ll work at your pace, and you can pause or end at any time.
What are your credentials and training?
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I hold a Diploma in Art Therapy from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute and a BFA with Distinction from OCAD University. I’m also a member of the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA).
What are your fees?
My standard rate for individual sessions is $135. A limited number of sliding scale spots are available, typically ranging between $95 and $130. Lower-cost sessions may also be offered by request for those facing systemic or financial barriers to care. These arrangements are generally offered for an initial 12-session period, after which we can review together what feels sustainable and what options are available. All fees are discussed in advance and documented in our agreement. If financial access is a concern, please feel welcome to reach out.
When are sessions available?
Sessions are typically offered Monday to Thursday, 10 am to 6 pm (EST). Limited Friday, weekend, or evening sessions may be available by arrangement.
How is my privacy protected?
All records are kept confidential and stored securely in accordance with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). I am committed to protecting your privacy. Your information will not be shared without your consent, except where required by law (such as concerns about imminent harm or child protection).
Do you work with a supervisor?
As a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (#19740), I currently practise under ongoing clinical supervision, in alignment with CRPO requirements. This means I may review aspects of our work with a qualified clinical supervisor for the purposes of ensuring safe, ethical, and effective care. My supervisor is a regulated health professional and is bound by the same confidentiality requirements under the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and CRPO’s Professional Practice Standards.
What if I need accommodations to participate in therapy?
I strive to make therapy accessible and inclusive. Sessions are available virtually, and I am open to adapting art materials, technology, or the physical space to support your comfort and participation. Accessibility looks different for everyone, so I welcome ongoing conversations about your needs and will work with you to explore options together.
What happens if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are typically billed at the full session fee. I understand that emergencies and unexpected situations can arise, and we can discuss exceptions if needed. We will go over this policy in more detail during our first session so everything is clear. This policy is intended to protect reserved time and support the integrity of the therapeutic process. Please note that cancellation and refund policies for group sessions may differ, and will be reviewed with group participants at the beginning of the program.

My practice is trauma‑informed and grounded in social justice, with awareness of how systemic oppression such as racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, and the pressures of capitalism can shape our lives. These forces can contribute to stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, and stored trauma. All people are welcome, and I strive to meet each person with care for their individual needs. This is a space where all bodies, identities, and stories are safe and respected.
